Severe Heartburn

Heartburn or Acid Reflux is generally caused by stomach acids of fumes finding their way back up into the esophagus. Because of the location of the pain, it can often be mistaken for heart pain, thus the name heartburn. Is it heartburn or a heart attack? It can sometimes be difficult to tell. In the case of severe heartburn, you probably have some sort of aggravated condition that needs serious attention, regardless of whether it's your heart or advanced deterioration of tissues in your esophagus. Pain, especially severe pain, is your bodies way of telling you it needs help.

The following items are commonly thought to contribute to heartburn.  It is often recommended that you monitor your intake or avoid them completely.

-Coffee, Tea or other caffeine products

-Fried or Fatty foods

-Spicy Foods

-Tomato Based Foods

-Chocolate

-Citrus Fruits and Juices

-Tobacco

-Alcohol

-Large meals

-Eating just before bed

-Wearing tight fitting clothes
